Rhode Island Assistive Technology Access Partnership

Assistive Technology

ATAP envisions Rhode Island as a state in which anyone requiring assistive technology has ready access to it. The Partnership is a key ally in acquiring your handicap van, as well as other assistive technologies you may benefit from.

The Assistive Technology Access Partnership (ATAP) in Rhode Island is a program that aims to enhance access to assistive technology for individuals with disabilities. ATAP serves as a collaborative effort between state agencies, organizations, and individuals to ensure that people with disabilities have equal opportunities to engage in various aspects of life.

ATAP provides a range of services to help individuals identify, acquire, and effectively use assistive technology devices. These devices can include mobility aids, communication tools, adaptive computer equipment, hearing and vision aids, and more. The program offers assessments, consultations, and training sessions to match individuals with the most suitable assistive technology solutions based on their specific needs.

Collaborating with local schools, employers, healthcare providers, and community organizations, ATAP works to promote awareness and understanding of assistive technology. The partnership also advocates for policies and initiatives that support accessibility and inclusion for individuals with disabilities throughout Rhode Island.

Through its comprehensive approach, ATAP strives to empower individuals with disabilities to maximize their independence, productivity, and overall quality of life. By ensuring access to assistive technology, the program contributes to creating an inclusive and equitable society for all residents of Rhode Island.
